Egyptian Financial Services Support Program: Real Estate Finance

Funded by USAID and conducted over four years (2004-2008), the real estate finance project provided technical services to the Egyptian government in raising the capacities of relevant governmental institutions. The project prepared key players and stakeholders for the activation of the Mortgage Finance Law.
 
The project was delivered to the Ministry of Investment, the Capital Market Authority, Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice.
 
CID Inc. worked to:
  • Conduct a needs' assessment study for stakeholders
  • Develop and implement a public awareness and communication strategy
  • Provide media educational workshops to stakeholders
  • Support in promoting organizational development for capacity-building

 

The project was designed to introduce mortgage finance to the Egyptian market and included:
  • The development of a communication strategy for stakeholders
  • Capacity-building for the Egyptian Ministry of Investment, the Capital Markets Authority, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice to institutionalize real estate registration
  • The development and implementation of a system to certify brokers
  • Downsizing the role of the informal sector in the process
 
Project communication requirements included the development of a public awareness and communication strategy and the design and implementation of media education workshops.
